There is a piece of metal near where we live, posing as artistic creation. Its title is “Malangan”, by the no-idea-how-well-known artist, “Lenny Clarhall”.
According to Explore Stockholm, Malangans are
large wooden figures made in the Javan city of Malang to honor a dead relative. Having been shown in public once, the malangan is destroyed.
It really should have been.
Sorry to be disrespectful about something that is obviously meant to be a monument, but it is very, very ugly.
Perhaps Clarhall’s intention is less good-willed than first suspected.
