After my last post about Dr Bombay, I found out some cheery news about the man behind Dr Bombay/Dr Macdoo. I had been thinking that Jonny Jakobsen had hung up his musical coat and gone on to pastures new, but he has, instead, been busy(ish) with his third alter-ego, Carlito.
The songs I’ve heard have been a little bit disappointing, but through his record-label I hope to be able to pass on a message to him, telling him how much I and Freya appreciate his first two incarnations.
On his website he infers that he’ll be making a comeback in April (i.e. now), so here’s hoping to a possible concert.

Life’s Not A Game(blog)
Before we moved flat a few months ago I’d been spending a lot of time looking for entries for the game blog. This took a great deal of my free-time, and I now realise I was almost becoming stressed in my constant search for interesting articles to post.
I’m now beginning to realise that, whilst game-blogging was interesting, it was preventing me from spending time with my two favourite past-times: playing games and reading about them.
So I’ve decided to stop the gameblog, which gives time over for posting things on this blog instead, which I’m no doubt will be much more enjoyable for the future Freya to read.
Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread (But Not That One)
Found out yesterday that I’d mistakenly bought (and eaten, as Freya had) bread which has egg in it. 1% egg to be more precise.
Not a significant amount, granted, but it was still annoying to realise I’d been stupid enough to be remiss in checking the ingredients. Still, you have to wonder (with so many other breads that vegan) why it contained any egg at all. I mean, it didn’t make any noticeable difference to the texture or quality (compared to other bread); in fact, many other loaves made by the same company are a lot more expensive better. So I’m perplexed.
Time to put pen to paper.
I Don’t Know About Art (But I Know What Sucks)
There is a piece of metal near where we live, posing as artistic creation. Its title is “Malangan”, by the no-idea-how-well-known artist, “Lenny Clarhall”.
According to Explore Stockholm, Malangans are
large wooden figures made in the Javan city of Malang to honor a dead relative. Having been shown in public once, the malangan is destroyed.
It really should have been.
Sorry to be disrespectful about something that is obviously meant to be a monument, but it is very, very ugly.
Perhaps Clarhall’s intention is less good-willed than first suspected.
Barbapapa Has Attitude
Freya was given her first Barbapapa book (having already inherited a thinner paperback-book from her mother) a few months ago now, and we all enjoy reading it at bedtime. That which lifts it above many of the other children’s books we own is the amount of detail/objects in each drawing, giving it a longer life span.
Her second Barbapapa book was bought about a month or so ago, and, while offering the same pictorial quality, shows the Barba family in a very different light. Entitled “Barbapapa and the Ark”, it covers environmental isues and animal rights in one fell swoop. Hunters, big-game hunters and whalers are given what for, whilst the rest of the population are shown to be uncaring abusers of their environment. It was quite a (pleasant) shock, considering its fluffy predecessors.
I wonder if the shape-changing family are vegans.
